CROSSBARRR - When you hear someone shout it out on any pitch, anywhere, you immediately know what they're trying to do. That feeling of utter joy after the sweet dink off the bar, first try (or 17th), is universal. Such a simple moment, but unbelievable how much happiness comes from it. You know the feeling... maybe not? But to think that one fleeting moment of bliss is only the smallest bit of Football's potential. Something so beautiful that transcends race, age, gender, social class, and whatever other bs older humans made up. Barriers can be broken.. all while getting some megs.. or getting megged.. All you need is a makeshift goal, a couple living beings, and a bag of wind.
Crossbar was born in Chicago when our love of footy met all the cultures of the city. Even though our roots are outside the country, Chicago will always be our beautful messed up home. Everyone different, every neighborhood a unique identity, but all part of the amazing CHI. From Rogers Park to Pullman, different backgrounds, deep history, and crazy life experiences coincide. Whether it’s supporting local clubs, late night pick-up, or exchanging some 6AM bar banter between Liverpool and United supporters, football brings so many hoomans together. Strangers can turn into family- no matter where they’re from, what language they speak, or if they put ketchup on their hotdog… Really who fucking cares if you do, but we're from Chicago so we fucking care. Or do we? It’s not that serious. Like us. Or are we?
We’ve morphed into a frankenstudio trying to share that first try crossbar feeling. Reworking, upcycling, creating with neighbors and sometimes raising $ for more important initiatives. Do we really need more crap in this world? Maybe we can use the polyester(and ohh soo much else) we already have. I mean, who needs another fast fashion hoodie, $900 designer kit or short ass beanie that doesn't even cover your ears... just like you don’t really need a “crossbar” to play the beatiful game🌽
As always bless you for reading, yeaaaah Soccerrrr WOOOO
